Microsoft Outlook 2000

  1. Open Outlook 2000. 
      
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts. All email accounts currently set up will be listed.

      
  3. Click Add and then choose Mail.

    The Internet Connect Wizard will start up. Follow the instructions and press Next when you have completed each step.
      
  4. On the first step, enter the name that you want to be displayed in the From field on email messages that you send out. Click Next.

      
  5. Enter your Voice email address, which is your user name followed by @voice.net.au
    Click Next.

      
  6. Select POP3 from the drop-down list if it is not already selected, and then enter  the Incoming and Outgoing mail settings as shown below. Click Next.

    Outgoing mail (SMTP) smtp.voice.net.au

  7. Enter your account login name (excluding @mail.voice.net.au) and password. Select the Remember Password option if you don't want to enter your password each time you log on, otherwise clear this checkbox.  Click Next.

      
  8. You have now completed all of the details and you will see a Congratulations message. Click Finish to display the Mail Accounts list.

    If you have more than one  mail account, you can select the default account by selecting it and then clicking Set as Default. Your Default account is the  one automatically used when you send an email message out.

Your Voice email account is now added. If you have set up your Voice dial-up networking connection, you can now access your Voice email account.

Other settings

There are a couple additional settings that you may want to change, which are not essential but may be useful.  Select your Voice email account from the Mail accounts list (shown above) and then click Properties.

Mail Account - This is only used to identify the account, so you can change it to anything you want.

Organization - This will appear alongside your name.

E-mail address - This is your Voice email address, as set up through the Internet Connection Wizard. Accordingly this should not be changed unless your email address changes.

Name - The name that will appear as the sender when you send out email messages.

Reply Address - If you want email recipients to reply to an address other than the one displayed above, you can change it by entering a new address here.

Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing - This option should be selected (ticked) so that this mail account will be checked when you click on the Outlook Send and Receive button.
