Dial-up Network Connection - Windows NT
The first step in connecting with Voice is to set up your Dial-up Network
Connection. Before you can set up your connection, you must ensure that
the following have been installed:
In most cases these have already been installed, especially if you have
previously had Internet access.
- Double-click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop to open
the My Computer folder.
- Double-click the Dial-up Networking icon to open the Dial-up
Networking window.
- Click New to start the New Phonebook Entry Wizard. Follow the instructions on each window, clicking
Next when done each step. Click Next.
- In the Name the new phonebook field box, enter Voice.

Select the I know all about phonebook entries. . . option and then
click Finish.
- Select Voice from the Phonebook entry to dial drop-down
list.
Click More and then select Edit entry and modem properties.

- Enter the dial-in phone number of your local Voice access point into the Telephone
number field (for Adelaide, enter 1832 8423 3030). You do not need to specify
an area code, so leave the Area Code field blank. This is a local call if dialling from within the Adelaide metro area.

| Note: Call Waiting can
disrupt your Internet connection. If you have Call Waiting, you can
enter the prefix *44 (Telstra) or #87 (Optus) before your Voice dial-up
number (i.e. *44 1832 84233030). This will automatically
disable Call Waiting and then after your Internet session is over, Call Waiting will automatically switch itself back
on. |
-
If the correct modem is not displayed in the Dial using drop-down
list, select the correct one. Click OK.
- Click on the Server tab and enter server details as shown below.

Ensure that all options are cleared except for Enable software compression
and TCP/IP, as shown above.
- Click OK and then click Close. Your Voice dial-up connection is now completed. You can connect by clicking on the Voice icon in your Dial-up Networking window.
